Sari Connection

Why choose Sari Connection?

Sari Connection is an initiative to empower marginalised women from Northern Sri Lanka. These women are trained as seamstresses to create unique clothing and homeware products by upcycling 'saris'. A Sari is the ancient iconic attire of a Sri Lankan woman and is widely used to date. These used and discarded saris are donated to our project by women from across the island and are converted into hand-crafted, unique pieces. Our project aim is to create more supportive livelihoods to women in need, through a waste-reducing model with a greater environmental component.

Currently we work with 72 women from Jaffna and Mullaitivu in Northern Sri Lanka and we want to reach out to other marginalised communities in the country. We need your fresh perspective in expanding our impact to other areas and ensuring sustainability and empowering more women!
