Quality experience

TLDR;
• Easy to start
• Supportive community
• Self-discovery and growth
• Livable wage
• Be careful

My journey began as one face among seventy. On that first day of training, I felt out of place. "Do I belong here?" I wondered. The session offered support and useful tips to what's to come of the year ahead, yet I still questioned if I could handle it.

By the end of training, the isolation vanished. Many of my peers shared my anxiety, and veteran teachers were honest about their own early struggles. The fellowship and merrymaking made the training fly by. The schedule gave us just enough time to get your bearings before the real work began: teaching.

My first day at Kalasin Pittayasan School (KPS) was a nerve-wraking; That's expected. "What-ifs" ran through my mind, but I followed the lesson plan and the formulated procedures. By the end of the day, the experience wasn't that bad.

As weeks turned into months, I embraced Thai culture and learned about Buddhism, gaining new perspectives. Teaching became a rhythm. Lessons flowed because I understood the foundation supporting them. The laughter from my students felt welcoming because we genuinely had fun during class. After a long weekend excursion, I realized my focus had shifted: I stopped getting in my own way and started thinking about what mattered to the kids.

I didn't grow into this role alone. From the start, my manager believed in me, nurturing my skills and my confidence. She made me realize, teachers like me, were worth the effort to upskill. Entry level teachers, like myself, are often average at first, but SINE values the capacity to learn. Their support encouraged me to stay open-minded. Eventually, I even trained a new batch of teachers — I'm as surprised as you are.

Thanks to the team in Isaan, KPS, and SINE Educate, I'm fortunate to call this job a "wayfinding" experience. I am about to complete my first year. I plan to continue with SINE and give it my best effort. Who knows what's next; I’ll just go with the flow and continue my journey.

Pros
  • Much more free time than working time.
  • Reasonable cost of living — an omelet on rice costs 35 to 60 baht.
  • The look on students' face when they get a higher score than expected.
Cons
  • School activities often cancel class; you'll have to catch up.
  • When you're starving and find an impressively tight rubber band holding your food, be careful.

Getting started in Thailand

I've only just started with Sine, but it's been an excellent experience from the outset. Having taught in Southeast Asia before, I went through much of the visa and work permitting process on my own in the past, which can be pretty daunting. Sine takes care of all that so you can focus on the fun and excitement of building a life and career in a new country.
Sine has a comprehensive administration, from the onboarding and visa teams to local school coordinators and foreign teachers, all of whom are here to help. At every step, if I had a question, it was answered and then some. Whether you're wondering about your local accommodations or the pace of life in the city or the country, there will be someone with expertise to guide you towards your best experience.

Training was a lovely time, where you meet most, if not the entire Sine team, who give you a sense of what to expect inside and outside the classroom. You'll be trained on Sine's English programs, which are ready for you - no lesson planning required. What's expected of you is to bring the energy and enthusiasm to class, which is easy when your day starts or ends and you have countless local restaurants and cafes to refuel your tank.

I look forward to continue working with Sine and specifically, the teachers and students at my school in Isaan. I came here to build my life and career as an English teacher, and I couldn't have chosen a better team to help with that.

What was your funniest moment?
I've had little funny moments almost every day, from ordering food with a combination of broken Thai and hand gestures, to jokes a cheeky student pulls before class. Keep an open mind and heart, remember to smile, and you'll never have a dull moment.
Pros
  • Great admin support
  • Beautiful locales
  • Solid lesson plans
Cons
  • It can be pretty hot - pack or buy appropriate clothes!

My Experience with SINE Education at Wat Suthiwararam Boys School

My experience with SINE Education at Wat Suthiwararam Boys School has been nothing short of transformative. When I decided to move abroad to teach English, I was looking for more than just a job—I wanted a purposeful next chapter that aligned with my love of language, connection, and culture. After years in marketing and creative work, joining SINE felt like a deliberate pivot toward something more meaningful, and every day here has reaffirmed that choice.

SINE’s teacher training was engaging, well-structured, and supportive. Held at the Student Christian Centre in Bangkok, it emphasized collaboration, confidence, and reflection. I was later selected as one of only four teachers to help train incoming educators—an experience that made me feel valued and showed how much SINE invests in the growth of its teachers.

Transitioning to my placement at Wat Suthiwararam Boys School was seamless thanks to SINE’s preparation and guidance. The school is historic and full of energy, and the students are curious, kind, and full of personality. Teaching here has been deeply rewarding, and the daily rhythm of Bangkok life adds a sense of color and motion that keeps things exciting.

Of course, there have been moments of adjustment—learning local rhythms, balancing personal commitments, and adapting to the city’s pace—but through it all, I’ve felt supported and encouraged to grow.

SINE offers structure, community, and room for personal discovery. For me, this experience has been more than a teaching placement—it’s been a journey of purpose, connection, and transformation in the heart of Bangkok. :)

English Conversation Teacher

Teaching in Thailand with SINE Education has been an amazing experience. Right from the first training day, there was a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and always someone to answer your many questions.

For the conversation program, your lessons are pre made which takes a lot of stress away for first time teachers. You can also add your own games, activities etc which can be a lot of fun and help you connect with students more. The coordinators are all fantastic and should receive more credit for their hard work!

I would highly recommend SINE Education. It is a great first step to take in Thailand, they really take care of you and support you during your time here.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go with the flow; you can’t plan everything!
Pros
  • Pre made lessons
  • Good management
  • Student learning is priority
Cons
  • Could have more social meet ups for teachers outside of school/area
  • Visa documents can take a while
