Unbeatable Experience - Ski le Gap 2019

I look back at my time in Canada on Ski le Gap with so many fond memories. The luxury to have such a high quality of ski mentoring for 10 weeks was outstanding and to come away with my level two instructor qualification is a skill I shall now have for life. The instructors Bruce, Tom and Greg had the best teaching skills to advance my skiing so that I have come away with such confidence in my ability to handle any slope! Both the support of the instructors on the slope, and the ski le gap team off the slope meant that every moment on ski le gap was thoroughly enjoyable! The city trips were a great chance to explore more of Canada and were full of fun activities. I would highly recommend the course because you will come away with many new skills and a great set of new friends!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Poutine!

A Canadian delicacy that was so yummy that I ate it every day!

Ski le Gap 2017

I did the Ultimate Experience and can safely say I had 10 amazing weeks. Skiing with CSIA Level 4 instructors day in, day out, all season, improved my skiing (and teaching) massively - I can now proudly say I am Level 2 ski instructor! There is never a dull moment on Ski le Gap, aprés-ski at the P'tit Caribou, weekend trips to Quebec City and Ottawa or getting bent into shape at Yoga. There is great camaraderie amongst the gappers and the experience is very personalised; Ski le Gap staff are supportive and are always there to answer question you might have. The accommodation is close to the mountain and the food is delicious; Andreas is a great cook, I never had the same meal twice in 10 weeks. I couldn't recommend this program highly enough, whether you are pre-university or post-university it is a experience of a lifetime.

Best 10 Weeks of My Life

After spending 10 weeks in Mont Tremblant with Ski Le Gap, I can easily say that they were the best ten weeks of my life. Skiing with some of the best instructors in Canada greatly developed my skiing and myself as a person. Ski Le Gap was 24/7 fun, whether it was on the slopes, enjoying a drink apres-ski, hanging out back at our rooms, or on one of our many great trips, it was always a great time. I made some of the best friendships of my life over my ten weeks with this program and wish I could do Ski Le Gap every Winter!

SKI LE GAP

I took part in the 10 week course with ski le gap, I have to say it is without a doubt the best thing I have ever done! Tremeblant by itself is such a amazing place for both skiing and other activities as well as it's night life.

The coaching given by ski le gap is the best I've ever had, throughout my entire stay two level 4 coaches were helping me along the way eventually helping me obtain my level 2 ski instructor qualification. But the most enjoyable part of the skiing is how chilled out the coaches were they never put anyone under pressure they just wanted us to have fun and enjoy ourself a whilst becoming better skiers.

The trips to quebec, ottowa and Montreal were a very nice addition to the course it gave us a chance to see three great cities and experience different cultures within Canada.

If anyone is thinking of doing ski le gap I'd tell them do it 100% as I know they won't regret it.

Ski le Gap 2017

I did the 10 week Ultimate Experience; skiing, weekend trips away and apres! We were a small group and everything felt personal, Tom and Bruce were amazing instructors who provided improvement and banter in equal measure!
I wasn't expecting to do so many different activities such as; working with the ski patrol, race gates, treasure hunts, mission impossible, yoga, learning French, ice skating, sight seeing and snow polo, to name just a few!
It really is the ultimate ski season!

Tell us about yourself, Charlotte.

I started skiing when I was 3 years old, living in Canada and lucky enough to have the mountains at my doorstep.

After completing a business degree at university, followed by a couple of years working in London, the lure of mountain life was too much to resist and I am now working full time with Ski le Gap. As a course advisor, I'm here to help you!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

We often hear that Ski le Gap was the best experience our students have had. However, to hear that for two students, their trip with us triggered a business idea, was just fantastic.

After meeting on one of our courses, and both falling in love with Poutine – a Canadian dish consisting of chips, gravy, and cheese curd – the pair decided to combine their love of food and their time in Canada, and set up a street food business selling Poutine.

Not only did they return home as qualified ski instructors and new best friends, they now have their own, very successful business which was kick started from their Ski le Gap experience.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Without a doubt, it would be our Ultimate Experience course. As the title suggests, it’s the ultimate way to spend a season on the slopes!

Skiing or snowboarding every day gives you the chance to develop your skills to no end, whilst gaining internationally recognized qualifications at the same time. These also boost your CV! With loads of extra weekend trips and activities to explore Canada, the social scene is nonstop – all whilst living with some of the best friends you’ll ever make!

This course is a real winter adventure so I thoroughly enjoy being involved each winter.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

The key to Ski le Gap’s success definitely lies in its dedicated staff. As a family run company, there is always a director and family member in the resort while the courses and running to help make sure everyone is having a good time.

Our instructors all work exclusively for us too. We handpick from the best, highest qualified pros in Canada. They are all passionate about their sport and dedicated to passing their knowledge onto our students.

Our whole team loves nothing more than to see students having a great time, both on and off the slopes.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

In the gap year industry, I think it is important not to lose sight of what you are offering to whom. It is easy to think you are continually developing your product but you can end up with too many options and not enough focus on delivering a high-quality service, ensuring the ultimate experience.

We run our courses exclusively in one resort, with a couple of course options specifically designed for gap year students to ensure we can provide the best experience possible for those taking some time out.
