Why choose Taproot?

When a refugee or immigrant family comes to United States, they seek places of comfort and familiarity, which are often places where their family or friends have already settled. South Philadelphia is such a place, rich with over 330 years of immigrant and refugee community settlements, some old and many new.
Taproot, located in the heart of South Philadelphia, is the first gap year to follow these chain migration patterns to explore the world through an insider's perspective. We invite students to go deep locally so they can build bridges globally, offering an unparalleled experience that roots students into stories that both span the globe and are close enough to touch from home. With a focus on reconciliation and developing a Theology of Story, Taproot invites students on a journey that is deep as it is wide.
