The T.E.A. Project
Why choose The T.E.A. Project?
The T.E.A. Project has been operating in Sri Lanka for six years providing guidance to underprivileged schools, orphanages and poor communities. In 2015 the project became a registered UK charity and in 2019 it was recognized as an NGO in Sri Lanka. In 2020 The T.E.A. Project will open a dedicated Children’s Empowerment Centre in Hanthana, Kandy. The site is located between line-house communities. The current basic facility provides out-reach projects conducted for disadvantaged schools and communities within close proximity of The Centre, including 9 rural schools and 3 large line-house communities. The existing buildings are in need of development and expected to be completed by mid-2020. Full development of The Centre will bring immediate benefit to families working within the tea picking industry in the area and the sector, enabling children access to free education and daily nutritional meals, career guidance, employment opportunities and community development support.
