Ulwazi Research Volunteer Programme

Our Volunteer Programme gives you the opportunity to be a part of conservation management on a private Big Five reserve based in northern KZN whilst also contributing to wildlife and conservation research. Thanda Safari works in association with Africa Nature Training whose expertise allows the Ulwazi programme to incorporate another whole range of exciting bush-learning opportunities not included in traditional Volunteer programmes. Another essential element that is critical to conservation is the involvement of local communities. In keeping with its name – the Zulu word for knowledge – Ulwazi also works closely with the communities surrounding Thanda, visiting schools and sharing knowledge and information about nature with children.
