My Two Weeks with Voluntours Colombia

My two-week stay with Voluntours Colombia in May 2026 was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported by the team.

I stayed at Zamia Hostel, which was comfortable, friendly, and the perfect base for exploring Bucaramanga and connecting with other travelers. Alongside my volunteer activities, I took Spanish classes that helped me improve my language skills and feel more connected to the local culture.

What made this experience truly special was the opportunity to engage with several impactful community projects. Visiting the prison and spending time with the participants was eye-opening and inspiring. The work of the CAPAZ Foundation showed me how much positive change can be created through education and community support. I also loved joining the football sessions with Goles, where sport became a powerful tool for inclusion, teamwork, and hope.

The city tour gave me a deeper understanding of Bucaramanga, its culture, and its people. Every activity felt meaningful and authentic, allowing me to experience Colombia beyond the typical tourist perspective.

The impact of these two weeks was enormous—not only for the communities involved but also for me personally. I left with new friendships, improved Spanish, unforgettable memories, and a much broader perspective on life.
