Widows Encouragement & HIV/AIDS Foundation is a non-governmental organization based in Arusha, Tanzania. WEHAF aims to help and empower widows, people affected by HIV/AIDS, and their children to cultivate better lives for themselves. Currently, WEHAF is working with a group of 132 women and is providing them entrepreneurship training, counseling, psychological services, and health care service, and day care and schooling sponsorship program for their children.

I had the chance to volunteer at WEHAF for about two months.
Spending time with the sewing mamas and I got to teach them how to make their own reusable sanitary pads, watch them creating beautiful clothes, bags, wallets etc...
I also spend some time in English class with the kids, they are all very eager to learn and make astonishing progress. I met my sponsor child at wehaf, where a lot of children need financial support to go to school.
Thedy, our project runner, is a beautiful human, kind hearted and always here to make your stay more than comfortable. She does extraordinary things for her mamas and their kids.
At wehaf, you can really make a difference in people's life.
Please, give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Come with donations! Lots of kids don't have fitting/clean clothes, nor do they have toys or games.
I would suggest to make a fundraiser, like I did, in order to buy sewing material for the mamas, and school supplies.
