Is this course appropriate for people planning to teach online and not in a physical classroom?

The short answer, yes it is appropriate for online or in-person 🙂

The long answer - A proper TEFL course should provide you with the teaching foundation to teach any age, setting or class type. Period. That’s the whole point of a TEFL course (the same for young learners, business English etc.). TEFLPros prepares you. The courses that try to upsell you on “online teaching modules” are a gimmick and we don’t believe in that. You are paying them extra for something they should be including in your certification anyway. The reality is that every online teaching company (and there are 50+) has their own training that they will put you through so you know how to best use their platform. They also have a wealth of resources and mentors that are specific to their platform. In addition, because they are online, the 50+ companies change much more rapidly than any TEFL course provider could possibly update any company specific content.

We always advise new teachers to consider all of these things when thinking about the TEFL courses that promote their specialized “online teaching modules”. They are just looking to squeeze a few more bucks out of you because you’re new to it all but they provide little to no value. We could do it too but it’s not right and it’s misleading.

Great question, it’s one that we get a lot 🙂
