I'm 16 and considering traveling by myself. Is this a safe option?

Would I need to travel by myself or is there a tour guide who would pick me up and drop me off? Do you think this is a safe and comfortable option for me?

My answer, regarding my trip, is yes of course you would be safe. My flights and transfers were all professionally completed and once at site the comradeship and wonderful staff make sure that you're never alone not left in an unsafe position.

Hi Rachael,

Thanks for getting in touch and that's very exciting that you're interested in volunteering abroad - we can certainly help you out with some options and give you advice on each of our available programs.

The majority of our programs are only option to volunteers aged 17 and above, but that being said we do have a few locations across Africa that are open to 16 year olds and each of these locations are chosen because of their high level of safety and the fantastic support from our staff.

On every single program we run, return airport transfers are included, which means you will be met at the airport by one of our staff members and remain in the care of African Impact staff during your entire stay. We pride ourselves on our 24/7 support, so our staff members actually live with you during your stay. We have a lovely volunteer house at each program base, so you'll have a nice and comfy place to stay with plenty of other volunteers from around the world - we like to think of ourselves as 1 big family!

We also provide plenty of support in terms of advice, tips and even help out with booking adventures at the weekend, during your free time!

Please do get in contact with us if you'd like anymore information Rachael, we'd love to chat further!

All the best,

The African Impact team.
