I've been to Peru and found it nearly impossible to obtain a legal work visa. Most teachers worked on a tourist visa, illegally. Especially in Cusco. What's your experience?

Currently in Peru the visa process can take 8-12 months. It is very difficult for short term teachers to obtain a work visa because of this. In Latin America, most people simply enter and exit the country using their tourist visa. This means you don’t have legal residence or work status in the country, but you do have permission to be in the country, and you can easily renew your tourist visa every 90 to 180 days. In general Latin America is more flexible and the work commitments are usually only 3 to 6 months.
