Term 3 - Spring into Asia

Program Photos

We go to where history unfolded abd is still felt today.
Southeast Asia is a total unknown to most but the favourite of everyone.
Our classes take place everywhere there is history or inspiration, and sometimes our students get pretty creative with where they feel. They can learn best and take in a lecture.
MEI teachers are not what you're used to. We do not have an office that has a door that can be shut. We are with you most of the day and we love it. Discussions of philosophy over dinner is like no experience that is comparable.
Because our terms travel with a collection of teachers, it allows us to break the class up into smaller groups, where every voice is heard, and every opinion is considered.
Whether you travel with a buddy or not, you will meet future lifelong friends when you are with us for as long as we are out during term sessions
Our centrally located hotels come equipped with every amenity you could need to succeed. In Asia, it is common for our hotels to have rooftop patios, and that is the ultimate experiential learning environment in which to do homework on your own and prep for presentations and quizzes.
Some friends travel together, and that is a truly special bond that they will carry forever.
We don't just go to a site, we explore everything. In in Southeast Asia, most everywhere we go is fully an unrestricted hands-on. To touch and feel history and culture is as human as an experience as there is.
You will return home longing for tuck tucks. This truly southeast Asian mode of mass transit is the most fun that an adventure could offer. This builds awareness and confidence and helps develop time management plus a keen understanding of the inner workings of whatever city we happen to be in and that is part of the immersion.
Mount Fuji as seen from a temple in Kyoto. We go there. We learn the history of the samurai and the geography of the famous mountain Summit.
The gold Temple is sacred, but this again is the perfect place to have a class discussion or lecture or both.
Baseball is his integral to the Japanese culture today as the samurai were centuries ago. Baseball is what brings communities together, builds teams in the corporate world and drives revenue into the economy. Never underestimate how important baseball is to Japan and specifically, Tokyo.
At night the city centre streets of Tokyo are every bit as electric as times square New York but 100 times brighter!
From every angle while in Tokyo, it is impossible to not see the beautiful cherry blossoms that are so synonymous with Japanese culture.
On a hilltop of Kyoto, we will settle in for lessons and sometimes quizzes because this point of inspiration knows no bounds.
Class presentations are an integral part of the MEI academics and it's overall ethos. We believe that to be able to effectively and confidently communicate with your peers at this stage in life, sets you up for unlimited successes as you go on into university and then the real world.
Remember what I said about baseball in Japan? While in Tokyo, if the Giants are in town, we will take in a ball game because the experience inside the Tokyo Dome is completely different from that of the Rogers centre in Toronto as an example.
The Tory Gates are so much more beautiful and vast and stunning within a picture can do justice, but this symbolizes the journey that we take together on a spring term in Asia. Each post tells a story because each post is another marker along the way.
On our spring terms and semesters, students have the opportunity to celebrate their high school graduation with us and still make it back home with plenty of time to prep for their home school prom. This is such an integral part of high school in America and we make sure you live it to the fullest.
Independence and confidence comes with trust and empowerment, and we offer both on all MEI programs. Students hold each other accountable, and that is a deeper level of personal growth and maturity.
