Amazing gap year with great community

Victory Gap Year is a year of personal growth. It’s a year of giving and receiving. Going out into the community and helping out where we can. At the same time attending lectures where you can work on yourself but also on the skills of the specific stream you will be choosing. It was definitely life changing for me! You meet people from all around the world and when I go to different places in the world I will always have friends to stay with. You have enough free time to explore Jeffreys Bay and it’s surrounding areas with your friends.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
A kingdom based community where people look out for each other

Life changing gap year!

Victory Gap Year is such an intentional year of growth, adventure, making friends and personal development. It is also loads of fun and based in a beautiful area.

I did the media stream and fell in love with the media world. I never really knew what I wanted to study, but Victory Gap Year helped me realize that I want to enter the creative industry. I will now be studying Visual Arts in 2021.

I am thankful for this amazing year. I have made memories and great friends that I'll cherish forever!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Make the most of the year! There are so many opportunities to grow and experience new things. Go on adventures, meet new people and experience church life to its fullest.

Great experience

Great choice for anyone local or international that is unsure about their future career plans or if you just want to find yourself and learn valuable life skills. It teaches you how to be independent as well as how to work in a team and with other people in the student house you will be living in. The three different streams. :Media, worship and leadership give everyone the opportunity to build their skills and abilities in something they are passionate about while also having classes that teach broader skills and valuable life lessons.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Come with an open mind and heart and an expectation of life changing experiences.

VGY

For many, taking a gap year seems like a waste of time, but I can truly say that my year at VGY was life changing. I can only look back and stand in awe and wonder what God managed to do and I am forever thankful for everyone involved with VGY that made it one of the best years of my life! From being immediately accepted into the community, living life with friends, adventures, and through daily life tasks discovering more and more who God wants me to be, it was a year that has laid a solid foundation for the rest of my life.

GAP YEAR

Gap year changed my life. I left with much more confidence and a sense of purpose.

I made great friends and I felt like I belonged.
It was loads of fun and I would do it all over again if I could!

The student house was a great experience for me. It was very interesting to live with different cultures and types of people. You learn a lot of people skills and problem solving skills.

The lectures was my favorite part. I loved that we got trained and equipped, but also got to enjoy a year of rest and growth.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Make the most of the year. Take part in everything and just have fun for the year.

My Year at Victory Gap Year

My year at Victory Gap Year was great! I got to learn a lot about myself and those around me. With that being said I was able to gain experience in many of my interests and the program basically helped with centering me in what I would be doing for the following years. The environment down here in Jeffrey’s Bay and Victory Church helps and provides one with a safe space to discover who they’re called to be. You are also given the opportunity to serve within the community so that you don’t just receive but give as well. So, come down and check it out, you won’t regret it!

What was your funniest moment?
Because you meet new people at the beginning of the year, you have to remember a lot of names and what would always be funny would be me always forgetting peoples names, I probably started the hang of if in 2nd term.

Going into Victory Gap Year, i had no idea of what to expect. Was scared to meet new people because in very introverted, but once i arrived i felt like i walked into a family...

All the lectures, adventures and memories made with new friends will never be forgotten. Friends for a year, family for life.

I would highly recommend coming to Jeffreys Bay ( best surfing destination in the world ) and do Victory Gap Year, you will leave a completely changed person.

My Year at Victory Gap Year

So I attended VGY in 2019 and honestly my expectations was exceeded in so many aspects. That includes socially, emotionally, physically, family, financially and spiritually. I found my identity in gapyear and I met some people who is going to be my family for life. VGY is an experience no one can expect, but everyone can benefit from. I would recommend VGY to anyone wanting to find themselves and enjoy living life while doing that. The funniest thing for me was that I thought it would be just chilling and doing nothing for a year, but they challenged me in ways I never could have known possible. I was pushed, and I grew a lot. The person who I am today is because of VGY and because of who God is.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
When approaching anything in life, remember, you only get out of something as much as you put in.

VGY was such a life changer....super happy that i was apart of this experience i have meat different people from all over the world. i have made very good friendship with all the student. one of the best part of Doing VGY was all the adventures we went on and learning life skill. VGY also thought me how to handle anger and depression etc. Before i came to VGY i was on the wrong path with the wrong people and i did not know who GOD really was like i knew there was a GOD i just did not know who he was in my life if that makes scenes. i really encountered GOD a lot and i saw him as a loving father and that he has plans for all of us. So if you don't really know what to do after school or just not on the right path and fell like something should be done just try VGY

Growth and Transformation

I had massive growth in courage, boldness, joy and peace as well as love, honour and value for myself and God. Before the gap year I was bound by hurt, fear and insecurities, but had so much breakthrough that I walked out quite a different person.

Victory Gap Year has set me up to live life joyfully and victoriously even through difficulty. I learned how to grow my personal relationship with God. I got a renewed mindset and tools on how to communicate better, honour and serve others and have better relationships with people.

After the gap year I had complete restoration and redemption in the relationship with my dad, it is such a blessing!

I learned so much about the foundations of faith in God, Christ has done it all for me, the Word of God is the only truth. I started to understand who I am as a daughter and who God is and the spiritual realm. I learned to be thankful and hopeful. I gained practical tools of how to live a disciplined and victorious life in Christ.

I grew in worship, songwriting, music theory and spontaneous/prophetic singing. We wrote songs together and there were opportunities to gain experience in all these areas.

I experienced unconditional love probably for one of the first times in my life in how someone made me their highest priority during the time I had scheduled with them. I had someone to ask for advice who had my best interests at heart.

I am so thankful for what God has done in my life through Victory Gap Year!

What would you improve about this program?
Focus more on hearing God, personal relationship & flowing with the Holy Spirit.
Focus more on the Biblical basis, growth and experience in spiritual gifts.
More structure for individual time of mentoring.
I have seen the program being improved and getting even better and better throughout the years since 2011.
