Namibia = The LITTEST

Namibia is hands down the most awesome place i have ever visited. High praise you might say? The reason is that this place caters to almost any vibe you might be seeking. The city has a wide variety of different restaurants. If you are the type to like to party, there's a wide variety of that too. The housing is really nice, you get the feeling of living at a luxurious guesthouse. The taxis are dirt cheap, if you are headed to town it only costs 12 namibian dollars. If you are going anywhere else it costs namibian 24 dollars. Namitnern is constided of really professional and cool personnel. They took us in really well and explained the dynamics of the city, they were also available 24/7. I would highly recommend Namibia to all people trying to experience growth outside of their comfort zone.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
My time in Victoria Falls! If i could redo the time spent in Vic falls, i would try to experience more of the city's different layers.

Volunteer Experiences in Namibia with NamIntern

This is definitly different from the internship you will get at home, but the experiences and growth you get out of this makes me really want to recommend going to Namibia. I was nervous to go, and scared i would regret it, but i haven't for one second - if you are unsure of going, go! I have grown so much in both being in this country and working on my practice place, and i am so happy that I went. Our supervisor is really helping us all the way, and giving us everything we need. And even though my workplace is different then it would be in Norway, I learn so much from it that i would never be able to learn in Norway.

What would you improve about this program?
I can't think of anything, i love everything about it.

Internships in Namibia with NamIntern

My experience with namintern was very good! They always supported me when I needed it and were always available for me. There is a great deal of uncertainty about coming to a new country so far from home, but Namintern could always help if I needed it. In addition, they were good at showing us what Windhoek had to offer of events. They wanted us to explore the city and the country, and they did this in a non-pushing way. In my time in Namibia, we also went on arranged trips that Namintern had fixed, and you might think they are expensive, but you definitely got the value for money. I felt super safe and taken care of, on the trips and I always had experienced people with me on the trips that looked after my safety and the ones I went with. One might think that it would have been more economical to go alone and not use a company like Namintern, but I think the money difference of using a company versus going alone is so small and what one gets left is so big. I am left with so many great memories and experiences thanks to Namintern.

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing I've found difficult down here is the communication with my college and Namintern. In the beginning, there was a lot we didn't know that suddenly became a small problem. But I think the communication problems got much better after a couple of weeks. Otherwise, I can't put my finger on anything else I want to change.

Unique experience

I have done and seen things that I would never do back home. I have gotten a bigger culture understand that I can take with me in my daily life and work. I have always felt save, and if something happened or someone got sick the staff is very helpful. I have worked at Mammadu Trust, five times a week. We worked morning and afternoon shift. In the morning we worked with children in kindergarten. In the afternoon shift we work with children in different ages who comes here after school. We help them with their homework and play with them.

What would you improve about this program?
This year the cooperation has not been the best because there has been misunderstanding in the communication between our school and NamIntern.

Best experience ever

Namibia is a very good country to do an internship in. You have a lot of opportunities to do and see what ever you want. I had the best time here, and I think that's because I have done a lot of different stuff and I went on all the trips that we had the opportunity to do. Namibia has a different culture than we have in Norway and it is a good experience to get to know the culture and work with it. Working with kids is so different than you might be used to, and it gives so much joy and fun. I think that i'm gonna miss everything when I go home.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice is to just do it. Go on the trips and do the most you can while you are here. Discover the city, the culture and as much as you can.
