I have had the privilege of traveling all over the world, but my month in Chios with SAIG was the best trip of my life. The program coordinators ensured not only that we were safe and accounted for, but also that we experienced a broad range of the Chios life. Our field trips were educational, interesting, and fun. We were given recommendations and support in doing activities on our own so that we could do activities outside of the program. We got to engage with the local life of a small Greek island in a respectful and exciting way. I will definitely be bringing friends and family back to show them Chios and have them experience the Mediterranean lifestyle.

Cannot recommend highly enough. If you like to eat delicious food in beautiful places this is the right trip for you. This is a great trip to a fantastic island full of kind people and impressive culture and history. The rich past of this specific island let alone it’s greek roots is enough to make any history buff blush. The travel opportunities are also superb, leaving the island on weekends or using Chios as a launch point for more travel around Europe(as I have), is strongly recommended. You are in a central location in Europe and the world really, which allows for quick access to Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as the fact that this summer abroad program is situated nicely towards the beginning of the summer which allows for plenty of time for subsequent travel before school starts again.

If you are thinking of doing this program in Chios, DO IT! This is one of the best experiences I have had abroad and will continue to recommend it to everyone I know. The classes were fun and engaging! The field trips were absolutely amazing, we got to see so many different local places and cultures! We had plenty of free time to explore on our own. The meals with the class were absolutely amazing, some of the best food I have had. Last but not least our local contacts, Yannis and Virginia, are the best people and incredibly helpful!

Such an amazing study abroad program with the most amazing professors and coordinators. Absolutely fell in love with Chios, so much history and culture that you get to know. My favorite part were the field trips we go to learn about the famous mastic trees and it’s production special to chios, we learned about more food production as well like cheese, honey, olive oil, wine, beer, and citrus juice. Aside from the program you get to meet the most welcoming locals of the island, made our experience even much better
