Very good opportunity to teach in France

Very good opportunity to teach in France

Being a teacher in CAP English allowed me to be part of the teaching community in France, which could otherwise be difficult because of the formal requirements in the country for foreign teachers.

Being part of CAP English helped me integrate into french society and be part of the teaching community.

By teaching in this program you get to interact on a daily basis with local people and also other expats and enjoy the experience of working and learning at the same time.

Pros
  • Formal employment
  • Teaching programme and materials

CapEnglish is the whole package

I have worked with CapEnglish for the last 3 years as a in-school teacher for lunch time and after school lessons and also as an online private teacher.

The staff are always quick to reply and easy to talk to (thanks Al and Malika!) and the support that you get is great. Materials are provided, so whilst you can adapt your teaching to your students, you know what the end goal is which is always great. For the private lessons, if you have your lesson ideas then they are open to that too!

Also, if you are looking for long term employment then they can give yearly contracts to help give a fixed income, likewise you can go freelance and leave yourself a bit more flexible. However, the schools you teach in don't move so you can't travel the globe and teach in the schools at the same time. But as long as you have a reliable internet connection then you could teach online to private individuals.

Pros
  • Lesson materials are provided
  • Flexbility on your employment status (contract or freelance)
  • Support staff are great
Cons
  • Not enough teaching hours available in certain situations

Just starting

I just started working with them and I can see that from day one, the whole team is there to back you up to help you have a successful year. Even though the offices are in Paris and I live and teach in Lyon, I still feel well communicated with the pedagogic and administration team. The material they provide is very useful and it helps you save time when planning your lessons.
I strongly suggest working with them, it's a serious company that helps kids have fun while learning English and most of all it takes good care of their teachers.

10/10

I have recently started working in a school with CapEnglish and so far I am really happy with how everything is going.
CapEnglish have provided a teacher's programme along with all of the materials such as books, flashcards etc for each class. This is fantastic as it means I don't have to spend hours preparing for each class from scratch. The CapEnglish team are very helpful and friendly and are always a phonecall/email away if I need anything at all. The company is very professional, the salary is great and it's a great kick start to my teaching career. I'm really happy to be a part of the CapEnglish family 😊

What would you improve about this program?
At the moment I don't see anything that needs to be improved.

Great work-life balance

Great work-life balance. CapEnglish provides flexible work arrangements, including flexible hours. They also provide you with everything you need to teach (flashcards, teacher's books), so you don't have to spend a lot of time on planning your lessons.
All employees, and managers are kind, and supportive. They are always willing to help when needed, and they make everyone working here feel like they do belong, and that they are welcomed.
I am really happy working here at CapEnglish.
Strongly recommend to join us!:)

Cap English

I’ve been working for almost 2 years for Cap English. It is a very serious company who offers competitive pay and all the support that I need to thrive in my job as a teacher.

I work 18 hours a week in two very nice private primary schools in Paris. The students are usually well-behaved and I’ve never had any major problems but if I have a problem, Cap English is always there to give me the support I need.

Last year, I worked 9 hours and I did some substitute teaching which was nice. I like the flexibility that they provide.

Cap English provides all the materials and lesson plans but it allows you to adapt your lessons according to your students’ needs. They offer you lots of different resources like songs, games, supplies, books, flashcards, puppets etc.

It is a very friendly environment to work for and I’ve got to meet teachers from different countries. I can always contact Cap English by phone or by e-mail when I’m unsure of something and they are always there to support me when I need.

Teaching for Cap English is very rewarding and I can see the students progressing with their method. I like to teach for Cap English.

Cap English in Paris

After a 3 part extensive interview I began working with CAP English as a substitute teacher in Paris
They pay on time and provide all the materials.

Within a month I was offered a position at a very nice private school and am teaching 16 hours a week.

CAP English communicates with the school direction and is there to support me.

The pay is fair and the travel costs are reimbursed half. The work is full on and takes a lot of energy.

They give real contracts and seriously vet their candidates.

Working in Paris takes a lot of energy too. You need to know how to use the metro.

Be ready to teach large classes and have your methods of discipline ready in order to manage the Parisian children

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
This is a very serious teaching program. Be aware that you will be teaching in primary schools in Paris and the children are city citizens.

A joy to teach with CAPEnglish!

I cannot recommend working for CAPEnglish enough. You are supported from day one with lesson plans, advice and materials. If you ever have a concern, CAPEnglish are only a telephone call or an email away. Their response rate is quick and satisfying. Above all, you are given so much responsibility, that you never stop learning alongside the children. I appreciate all the trust that has been placed on me to represent the company. I feel so grateful to have been given such a fulfilling opportunity in such a beautiful city. The most satisfying part of the job is seeing the pupils happy and monitoring their progression every day.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I was most nervous when I delivered my first lesson to my maternelle pupils. I did not know what to expect from the pupils, or how they would react to my lesson plan. However, this is one of the greatest aspects of teaching - the variety in every lesson.
