Real good for value and teaching

The only hard part was paying - it took me 3 attempts before my card payment was accepted because of my stupid bank. It's never easy.
Access to the course was like they say and instant. You can skip the first 'pre-course' units quickly and go back later if you wanted, but I won't. The actual units are excellent and teach me past just knowing grammar structures and where to sit students in general, but included like how to deal with issues, fun activity for different things being tought and when to make the corrections. this kind of thing is what I wanted. There's a lot of questions to check understanding and some activities also. hard to not like the course, and the certificate also is very nice printed.

Good content and resources

I'm really glad I took this course. It was cheap so I wasn't expecting a great deal of quality content, but it surprised me. There's a real voice behind the text and although some of the videos have avatars instead of real people it was still very useful. I liked the ease of learning and can recommend the teaching style of watching videos, reading th text quickly and then doing all the quiz stuff, as I found that way I really understood it all. I think the order of the units is nice and logical though I wonder if they should have taught lesson planning earlier? Regardless, it's a very, very good course for the money especially.

Cheap but good quality

I'm happy to write a review for INTREPID TEFL. I didn't have any issues with the course and was able to complete it without needing any support - I think most companies with tutor support likely don't really need to give it anyway as all the ones I messaged about were automated, so it seems a bit of a gimmick that they all offer 'tutor support'. I went with this company for price and because the website looked clean without any BS upgrades or cross selling or whatever. I don't regret it. I learned enough to make me feel like I know what I'm going to be doing in a classroom when I find a job. So, there it is, they were good and I thought worth a bit more than what I paid for it.

The course didn't cost a lot of money but it ran well and had enough to keep me motivated. Some of the videos have small audio malfunctions but having the videos was a luxury. I made an effort to finish every one of their cognitive scenario quiz- like activities because I found that these helped me put the theory into action, which was a nice touch. Now, for the issues...not much info on the site about getting jobs afterwards or pre enrolment info. They need to pad out their website a bit more to include a bit more. With that said, their value is very good considering the course material (or at least I though so).

Above and beyond

Staff were amazing offering help with an error I had when I signed up putting in the wrong email. They were patient and quickly got me hooked up with the course. I needed to ask them a few questions to understand a couple of the tasks and they always replied politely even though admittedly one of the tasks made sense when I looked at it with fresh eyes. The other lesson task was fine once they explained it. Bottom line is that they were there to support me. Lessons weren't easy or hard but there's alot of them so it took 5 weeks doing a lesson a day and I remember lots of it so it's all good.

I have to say that this was a high quality course that did exceed my expectations. However, they really need a job seekers section for when you finish the training course. To be fair to my tutor, he did provide me with a few different links for recruiters but I'd actually pay more for job support. The course includes a lesson covering what to expect from ESL abroad but nothing for getting jobs unless you're goal is online teaching. But whatever, everything else was as I hoped including getting a qr code on my certificate for getting it verfied anytime. For those looking for a course to prepare them for teaching abroad, this one has left me feeling positive about being in the classroom despite not actually including anything practical.

What would you improve about this program?
A job board and resume or application assistance
Pros
  • More materials than you'll likely have time for
  • I paid $44 which felt low priced
Cons
  • See above
  • Maybe add some essays or different assessments

It's good value

This isn't one of those courses with a load of waiting around for lecturers to grade your essays, it's just read and watch some stuff, clock some stuff, and move on. I like that, though I'm guessing there may be some folk who take issue with it. There must be about 50 hours of video or more in there but there's also hundreds of pages of written stuff to read if that's your thing. I did the kids and skimmed the text whenever I could be bothered. Galf the video was AI voicing, so if that's not your bag you'll be reading text alot. The review stuff is good and the tutor who I messaged a couple of times knew his stuff. For 50 bucks, this is properly good.

Impressed with most of it

It was smooth from the start as everything is automated from the moment you pay. There was a moment of apprehension when I clicked pay, as there often is when you buy online from somewhere that isn't Amazon or wherever, but as soon as I was redirected to the course page my anxiety faded. The course is made up of more than 20 lessons, each containing an hour or 2 of video and some deep textbook-style reading. There are different review questionson the lessons, and every lesson also has a graded quiz, which I think is a great way of testing (I despise essay writing!). I had to message the tutor twice about a quiz question, but both times they got back to me super fast, so really I have nothing to complain about! I also paid less than the price they advertise here!

Cheap and kind of fast

Not as fast as the price makes it seem like it's going to be to finish, but there aren't any written assessments or anything arduous like that, so it was all quite relaxing. I did all the activities and found it all fairly to very useful, especially the ones on classroom feedback and behavior management. I literally chose this because it's cheap and I'm not sure if I'll like online teaching, but I think I will. The unit on online teaching was informative but reading about the different destinations made me wonder if teaching in person might be better for me. Regardless, the course had everything it said and I'm glad I did it.

Engaging with good support

I'll go through the pros and cons, which I find usually helps me when I read reviews. Plus first: there's alot of useful content with a genuine voice in the text. Videos are fine, but I'll get to them more in a moment. The model teaching videos are superb, as are the review activities which make you apply what you've read as well as past content. For what you get and the quick (usually) email responses, the price is incredible, especially since it has what appears to be genuine accreditation (I searched). Now for the niggly negatives: some of the videos have AI voices, which aren't bad to be honest, but sometimes there were odd sounds. There's a lack of job links right now, though staff provided a number of useful links when I messaged. I'd also like to have the option of handing in written assignments, perhaps ironically as many companies I found seem to boast about not having these! In balance, this is an easy course to recommend to others, but I do hope they don't become idle and settle because there are ways to make this even better.

Pros
  • Deep content with a real voice behind the text
  • Lots of useful extras in the lessons
  • The price is very reasonable
Cons
  • Some videos need more of a real voice to improve them
  • Job links provided only when I asked - this would be a useful add on
