My daughter and I spent three weeks at the school, and the entire experience was wonderful from start to finish.

Before arriving, I was a little concerned as it was our first immersion experience, and I wasn't sure whether four hours of one-to-one lessons each day would feel too intense. However, our teachers were incredibly dynamic, engaging, and supportive, and the time seemed to fly by.

One of the things we loved most was that learning extended beyond the classroom. We had the opportunity to visit the local market, churches, and other places of interest around Antigua, which made the experience both educational and culturally enriching.

Everything was organised professionally, and everyone made us feel welcome throughout our stay. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone considering learning Spanish in Guatemala, and I sincerely hope to return one day.

A very special thank you to my teacher Gilda, who made every class enjoyable and fun. We laughed a lot during lessons, and I genuinely looked forward to class every day. Saying goodbye was honestly difficult!

I also had a wonderful experience with the homestay. Staying with Dina’s family made me feel completely at home from the very beginning. The room was spacious, comfortable, and always very clean, and having delicious homemade meals every day made the experience even better. Dina was so kind, caring, and helpful throughout my stay.

Overall, it was an unforgettable experience full of learning, cultural immersion, and wonderful people. I would definitely love to come back in the future!

C’était une expérience incroyable. Les professeurs sont fantastiques, l’emplacement est imbattable et on peut aller partout à pied — il y a tellement de choses à faire. J’ai étudié 6 heures par jour et je suis restée à l’école, tout en ayant largement le temps de découvrir la ville. Et je repars en parlant bien mieux espagnol qu’à mon arrivée !

Je recommande à tous si vous voulez apprendre et vivre une expérience parfaite :)

It was an incredible experience. The teachers are fantastic, the location is unbeatable, and you can walk everywhere—there's so much to do. I studied for six hours a day and stayed at the school, yet still had plenty of time to explore the city. And I'm leaving speaking much better Spanish than when I arrived!

A rewarding experience I'll never forget.

I originally planned to stay for just one week, but I ended up staying four, I was amazed by how much my Spanish improved in such a short time. The classes gave me a great opportunity to practice and really advance my Spanish skills.

The price is very reasonable, especially compared to language schools in the US or Europe. I truly felt that the school cares about both their students and their teachers. Every week, the office checked in with me to make sure everything was going well, and that personal touch made a big difference.

I believe that's the real value of a mid-sized school like Ixchel—they focus on each student individually. I heard about other larger schools that take in lots of students, but what stood out to me at Ixchel was how personalized and attentive the experience felt. Highly recommend this school!

We had a wonderful experience learning Spanish at this school! I attended with my mom, my aunt, and two cousins, and we all enjoyed every moment of it. Even though we booked at the last minute, the school was incredibly accommodating and made us feel welcome from the very beginning.

Each of us had a different level of Spanish, but the teachers did an amazing job tailoring the lessons to our individual needs. They were patient, encouraging, and very professional. The classes were dynamic, practical, and fun—and we were all surprised at how much we learned in such a short time!

What an incredible experience! From day one, everyone at the school was so patient, and it made a huge difference in my learning. I genuinely feel like I learned a ton, and my teacher played a big part in that by helping me gain so much confidence. On top of the fantastic classes, staying at the school was perfect. Dina, the host, is an absolute gem – so kind and attentive, always making sure I felt right at home. My room was spotless, and Raquel (the cleaning lady) was very considerate about scheduling cleaning. You won't regret coming here!

I spent four weeks here at the school and had an amazing experience from start to finish. I arrived with very limited Spanish, and I’ve honestly surprised myself with how much I picked up, I can now hold full conversations in Spanish, which feels like a big accomplishment.

My teacher was fantastic. She quickly figured out how I learn best and tailored the lessons to focus on what I needed the most. The one-on-one setup already makes learning more personal, but having Aura as my teacher really took it to the next level. I’m hoping to come back next year and keep learning with her. I enjoyed my time at Ixchel Spanish School. I studied Spanish there for four weeks and wished I could have stayed longer. I chose to live at the school while attending classes. The room was very comfortable and clean, with plenty of space. I also had three fresh meals every day (Monday through Friday) prepared at the school. This was very convenient and affordable.

There were many activities and trips organized by the school for example, trips to Monterrico beach, Sumpango, Tikal, Lake Atitlán, and more. I also learned a lot of Spanish with the help of my private teacher. The classes were well-structured and the system made learning easy.

The staff at the school are friendly and efficient. I highly recommend Ixchel if you want to learn Spanish and have an amazing cultural experience in Guatemala!

I had a wonderful experience studying for three weeks with my teacher Aura at Ixchel Spanish School. Aura has 31 years of teaching experience, plus she has a great sense of humor and passion for teaching. She made the private classes fun and I made a lot of progress with the language. Beyond that, I also learned a lot about Guatemala during our conversations. The office was very helpful the whole time explaining the options and prices at the school. They were honest and organized with the prices, and I thought the classes were excellent value for money. I would highly recommend Ixchel and Aura to anyone interested in learning Spanish. It's a great, supportive environment to learn in, and all the other students I spoke to had similarly great experiences. Thank you and I hope you come back and study with them again!
