GPSA Belize Summer 2019

This summer, I traveled to San Antonio, Belize with GPSA (Global Public Service Academy). There we stayed with a host family as well as two other student volunteers my age (16/17) and our medical fellow from Mercer University. Throughout our time there we took part in many different activities, from doing home visits (what took part in different villages in Belize), to visiting the maternal wing in the San Ignacio hospital to doing cultural related activities and tech sessions.Our first day was centered around learning how to preform the different tests that we would be preforming on members of different communities. We learned how to take blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, temperature, pulse and respiration as well as spanish to better communicate with the people we visited. This trip was truly amazing and i would recommend this trip to everyone, it allowed me to become culturally aware and make friends that will last a lifetime. GPSA is truly an amazing program.
