A different world

Thinking about a great change? Going to Thailand might be the thing for you. But one has to be ready to embrace some grand change of everything basically. I started out in November, that's the second semester here. The Fewer Things provided me with a TEFL course and connected me with the Thai company that actually hired me. After orientation in Bangkok, it was time for a mini trip to Chiang Mai, the Northern big city and after that, I ended up at my placement near Korat. The town is quite small so it took some time to adjust. After maybe a month I got used to the work, people, and life in a town away from the traditional tourist destinations. Feelings of inadequacy and alienation were part of it, but so was the joy of a good lesson done, sharing energy with the students, and exploring the area with people who met at orientation or other foreign teachers at the school. It's an adventure like no other if you're open enough and ready to embrace it.
