Studying and volunteering abroad in Barcelona!

Studying abroad with CEA CAPA in Barcelona was an unforgettable experience that allowed me to grow academically, personally, and culturally. The program provided the perfect balance of structured support and independence, helping me immerse myself in the city while still having a reliable safety net. One of the most meaningful aspects of my time abroad was my service-learning placement at La Troca, where I worked with young children while their immigrant mothers attended language classes. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of Barcelona’s diverse communities and the challenges immigrants face while adapting to a new culture.

Beyond academics, living in Barcelona was incredible—the city’s energy, rich history, and amazing food scene made every day an adventure. Whether exploring local markets, celebrating Castanyada, or simply soaking up the Mediterranean lifestyle, I felt truly connected to the culture. For future students, I’d recommend stepping outside your comfort zone—try speaking Spanish (or even Catalan!), engage with locals, and embrace the city’s slower-paced but lively way of life. CEA CAPA made my study abroad experience both enriching and seamless, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a transformative time abroad!
