Archi helped me get my dream job!

I spent 7 months at Archipelagos during my university placement year. I was a Marine Mammal Intern during this time, and gained valuable field experience on the boats. I learned how to collect a range of reliable data, upload and store data efficiently, use different softwares to analyse data (including QGIS), and write literature reviews and reports. Whilst on surveys, I was taught how to aid with mooring the boats, specifically tying the ropes safely. I was also lucky enough to be taught how to drive the three boats belonging to Archipelagos. These experiences are not necessarily given to interns at other companies, and have put me in a better position whilst job hunting.
Furthermore, i was able to get stuck in with other projects unrelated to my specific internship, such as collecting data during snorkel, jackal and flamingo surveys. Gaining experience through terrestrial and ecology projects despite my marine mammal role was encouraged by the management team.
I was able to use years worth of reliable data collected at Archi to support my own research paper investigating how different types of vessels impact the behaviour and whistle structures of Delphinus delphis. The team at Archi, especially Bea Tintoré, were extremely supportive and helped me throughout my research, teaching me new skills along the way. I was able to use this research to write my university dissertation and gained a First Class Grade thanks to the help I received from Archi even after I left.
I also learnt how to scuba dive, made life long best friends, and got to explore the most beautiful island during my time off! I couldn’t recommend Archipelagos enough.
I have since graduated from university and I now work in the marine sector. I am confident that I have Archipelagos to thank for giving me the experiences that secured me my dream role.
