Internship

I did not have a great experience with the internship portion of the program. I started late and do not do much technical work. I feel like my time at work is not spent very efficiently. I have had two one on one meetings with Chiara to discuss my placement since CEA CAPA has not had an intern at this location and the company is relatively new. In my meetings I have discussed with Chiara that they have not given me anything long term to work on, despite being told that I would have a project to help them with throughout my time there. Instead, I am given several small tasks throughout the day but they do not take very long and I find myself sitting with long stretches and nothing to do. My internship placement is not directly related to my major, which is a bit unfortunate. I am working with someone in the hydraulics team at this company, which is part of civil engineering but my primary focus is in construction management. Despite both being in civil engineering they are vastly different and I unfortunately do not foresee myself applying many of the concepts that I am learning to my future career. This position would be much better suited for a student who is interested in transportation engineering. The concepts are very interesting and I have enjoyed looking at the maps and models that I work on for the railway plans, it is just not what I will be doing in my future and I was really hoping to get some experience before I enter the workforce soon.
