About Program

If you are interested in delving into the tombs of the lost Etruscan civilization and then unearthing your way back through the ruins of Rome, Sparta, and Athens, then this program is for you. As you walk in the footsteps of the great military leaders like Julius Caesar, Pompeii and Augustus you discover how their ruthless tactics of power politics are both revered and reviled to this day. Connections between the blood sports of the Colosseum to the modern MMA fighting lead to a comparison of the athletic competitions of Ancient Olympia to the modern-day Olympics. Each day we map human connections to our past as we discover how the ideas of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle laid the foundation to our modern thought, and explore how the plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides established the storyboards to today's box office hits.

Courses Offered: AP World History: Modern, AP English Language and Composition, Grade 12 English, Grade 11 English.

Authentic Greek food that sometimes we get classes in making.
We stay only in accommodations that are centrally located, so the inspiration is unlimited.
We never visit anywhere we go. We immerse ourselves in the culture and the history and embrace the literature. We will have lectures and breakout sessions in the Roman Forum.
Families Forever Bonded On Our Journeys
We go to the most renowned galleries in all of Rome and Athens. Although we never conduct classes inside, we are always there to enhance the experience for all students. We excel in one on one engagement.
We travel with a team of expert teachers, some of whom carry a Masters or PhD degree. We truly love what we do, where we go, and who we go there with.
All of our hotels are centrally located so in order to get to the Parthenon a top the Acropolis in Athens, it is within walking distance. Classes are conducted on the steps of these ancient temples, but the experience happens while walking the grounds where you can see and touch history.
Our classes happen where history unfolded overlooking the literal passage of millennia. Our teachers are so passionate about what they teach that the experience of learning begins with their expertise.
Presentations and public speaking are Paramount to all MEI programs, but especially when it comes time to perform a Greek comedy or tragedy while on the beaches of where these epics were either written or inspired by.
Our teachers are available at all times for students to walk alongside and get closer attention. We are as excited to be here doing this as you are so let's do it together.
Our expert teachers conduct Daily master class, workshops in groups and one on one so all students have strong confidence in cutting edge, modern media technology.
When it is time for quiet study, essay, writing, or small group, discussions and workshops, we make sure we are in the most comfortable and inspirational spot to maximize impact and make the most of this opportunity.
There have been several movies made about the museum inside the Vatican; we go there. Students have classes regarding the contents of the museum and then when we go in, it is their responsibility to do the research necessary to complete assignments. This is experiential learning.
We do a lot of walking, but we do it in the most awesome places and everywhere we go is tied right back into the theme and focus of the day. Every step we take is with intention and makes sense.
Class happens on the steps of history, where history happened, while taking in the air once breathed by the gods.
The one on one time that our teachers afford, the students is unparallelled in any other academic environment.
Our teachers are truly special because they are not only experts in their field, and high school teachers full-time at home; they are expert travellers and take every thing into consideration when considering the safety insecurity of all students.
This is just another example of where you may spend 30 minutes of your morning journalling on the muse of the day. The same way the great philosophers of ancient Greece would have.
All students, depending on where they are in their home, academic path, have the option to celebrate their high school graduation with us, and still make it back to their homeschool if they so choose for their prom. We have many international students that don't have a school to go back to because of a life situation so they can graduate with MEI Academy.
I can't think of a better place to be motivated and inspired to maximize the cognitive flow of my thoughts that I can then put down on paper or into a tablet to make the best of this high school experience.
