About Program

4 week course taught by Rhodes Scholar and Oxford PhD in International Development.

The Covid-19 health crisis has interrupted with production, trade and financial markets. We have seen the stock markets drop and many businesses close. In developing countries, where many businesses are informal and can’t adapt to social distancing, we could see a drastic spike in poverty and inequality. Even though this is a pandemic, Covid-19 has clearly shown both the importance and interconnectedness of the global economy. This course provides you with a unique overview of economics within our quickly changing world. It helps you understand the production of goods and the importance of trade. It will help you better understand economic growth in developing countries and how that relates to poverty reduction. You will learn how governments respond to negative shocks, like Covid-19, and the impacts of these decisions on the future. You will even advise a government yourself!
