About Program

The highest of the countries of South America, Bolivia has an extremely diverse landscape, from mountains, to salt flats, to the Amazon River. However Bolivia is also one of the poorest countries in South America, and a startling number of Bolivians live below the poverty line. Kaya Responsible Travel offer a number of volunteer or internship placements that are dedicated to making a positive and lasting difference within Bolivian communities. You could work in sports coaching, or equine therapy with those living with disabilities, or even helping out in a school or undertaking a veterinary internship.

All Bolivia volunteer projects are situated in the capital of La Paz, where bustling markets and a flourishing street food scene are ideal ways to explore Bolivian culture and cuisine. The architecturally and historicall rich city offers cathedrals, museums and galleries. These can also be admired from the Mi Teleférico, the world’s longest urban cable car network.

This program is currently not being promoted on Go Overseas by its provider. Check with Kaya Responsible Travel for the most up-to-date information regarding the status of this program.

Consipe School for disabled children - Bolivia

I worked at the school Consipe in Cochabamba everyday 8:30 while 12:00 (you can work the afternoons if you wish but I was teaching English). The school was fantastic and the Director is lovely, I had the most amazing time. Our host family were so welcoming and supportive. Kaya were good at organising everything, however, we could have recieved more support from our volunteer co-ordinator based in Bolivia.
