About Program
Our Reserve is part of the Jaguar Corridor and therefore we aim to offer an increasingly suitable habitat for them. To accomplish this we have projects on reforestation, soil restoration, the recovery of a water stream, and sustainability matters.
Our strongest project now is Sister Greenhouses, whose objective is to build a network of individual and community greenhouses to reproduce native tree species of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, emphasizing global and local threatened species.
Activities in which volunteers participate are:
-Walks for seed and sapling collection
-Greenhouse maintenance
-Monitoring the water stream
-Food sovereignty Activities
-Planting sessions
-Supporting communities’ greenhouses
-Monitoring fauna
The Gaira River is 25 minutes away by walking, and the nearest beach is 1 hour away by public transportation. The nearest big city is Santa Marta City, which is 90 minutes away.
