About Program

Our children's home is situated in Kenya's Vihiga County. Currently, we are meeting the basic needs of twenty-eight orphans housed in the home, twelve of whom are receiving aid from their homes, as well as twenty teenage moms and widows in the neighbourhood.

Areas to volunteer include:
- Construction, maintenance, and repair work
- Helping the staff with preparing meals, feeding the children, and babysitting.
- Playing with the kids in their breaks.
- Creating original art, crafts, music, drama, and much more
- Putting together games, tournaments, or other community events.
- Photography, video and social media pages update
- Help with accounting and administrative work.
- Gardening and animal care

We are open to volunteers all year round.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Program Impact

The volunteer program at Green Village Children’s Home will create a powerful ripple effect that transforms both the children and the wider community. By bringing in dedicated volunteers, the children will gain access to mentorship, emotional support, and educational opportunities that nurture their growth and confidence. This consistent care not only improves their immediate well-being but also equips them with skills and resilience for the future. At the same time, the community benefits from stronger bonds of compassion and shared responsibility, as volunteers foster a culture of giving and collaboration. The program will inspire local residents to engage more actively in social development, reduce isolation, and strengthen unity, ultimately building a healthier, more supportive environment where every child has the chance to thrive.
