About Program
Find joy in serving others while rebuilding in the Himalayas!
We've been working in the small village of Takure since the earthquakes in 2015 where 96% of the homes were destroyed. Our intention is to introduce sustainable, long-term rebuilding solutions. Each day our volunteers work hand-in-hand with local community members we employee to produce Compressed Stabilized Earth Bricks (CSEBs) for home reconstruction.
Because we believe in responding to the needs of the community, our volunteers have the unique opportunity to serve Takure in a variety of ways. We visit the local primary schools a couple days per week where a teach English, art, and environmental education. We also run an agriculture program which is working on developing a coffee cooperative (currently caring for 16,000 saplings) and developing rainwater harvesting systems to incorporate into home reconstruction.
