About Program
Limpokwena offers volunteers the opportunity to experience conservation on the ground, and the work that goes on to ensure the management, monitoring and preservation of this pristine piece of wilderness on the edge of South Africa.
Ongoing research projects conducted on the reserve including predator camera trapping or the opportunity to monitor free-roaming predators such as wild dog (1 of only 4 free-roaming packs in South Africa) makes Limpokwena a unique volunteer experience.
As the game species are free-roaming and truly wild, the experiences are often exciting and unpredictable. Elephants visiting the camp, or the whooping of a hyena in the late evenings.
Learn how to identify trees, birds, spoor and tracks; walk in the wild or camp under the stars. Experience life out in the bush!
Shared accommodation is offered in a comfortable self-catering cottage, and a few nights out camping on the Limpopo River.
Day visits to surrounding places of interest are also optional.
