About Program
SIYA is an acronym for South Africa Ignites Youth Action. Siya- is also a zulu prefix which means ‘We are/ We will’ that alludes to collective action.
SIYA goes on to build key skills in facilitation, mentorship, and presentation skills.
SIYA Volunteers have the chance to “pay it forward” by working with and mentoring high school students from disadvantaged communities , to ideate and implement solutions within the SDG framework. Without a doubt, the ultimate benefit of participating in the SIYA volunteer program is the fulfillment of leaving the community having contributed to long-lasting change.
The SIYA program is a hybrid program, beginning the first week with online engagement to prepare you for an uniquely South African experience.
