Review

This was my second time going and I'm sure it won't be my last time. Each trip had it's own unique experience, which is why Adanu is so great; you get to experience something new every time. Every village is just a little different, some specialize in fishing or weaving, dancing or cooking, the list goes on. It was great to learn about each thing while helping out the village. We were blessed with the opportunity to help build a library and sanitation system for my first go around. The second go around we helped build a library. Although this is hard work and not to mention the sun beating down on you throughout the day, it's the people that keep me coming back and knowing that we are making a difference. Ghana has the nicest and most kind people I've ever met and the people who work with Adanu are the best! They become your family. I look forward to the next time!

If I were to give any advice, it would be bring a mosquito net! The bugs aren't really that bad, but at night it can get pretty bug infested. The only other piece of advice would be to go with an open mind and say yes to every thing. Try and just go with the flow!

After the program we were able to raise enough money to get a van for the team in Ghana, which was awesome. The second go around we are really close to meeting our goal and should reach it this year. I think this has impacted me as I try and get more involved with non-profits and giving to charities. It really shows you have blessed we are to live in the United States.

My favorite memory is still waking up every morning and all the kids chanting my nickname that was given to me there "JoJo!!" Then going back two years later and visiting that village and everyone chanting my name again! Also break dance battling on rock and dirt was a great memory that will stick with me.

Would you recommend this program?
Yes, I would
