When it comes to working abroad, there are 2 parameters to consider : the city and the work.

Qingdao is a pretty nice city, relatively unknown abroad. However, currently 11 million people live there. As such, the day life and the nightlife can be pretty active and you will have plenty of places to go as an expat even if your Chinese is not your strong suit. Concerning the city itself, it is rather diverse and you can do almost anything : if you want to you can go on the beach or in the mountains. The weather there is alright so there won't be any harsh winter or suffocating summer. Lastly, the transit system is convenient which is a big plus.

As for the work, I have the opportunity to work in China, in a Chinese company with a French boss, talking English with people from all around the world. You will learn a new business culture, which as its perks and its inconvenient.

On those two aspects, MTA does a really decent job of accommodating the interns. The staff will inform you of the popular places and give you advice on how to find your way in the city. If you have any issue, they will help you out. Regular events are held out in restaurants and else in order to meet the other interns. You will also have to take Chinese classes.
As a personal experience the staff is really helpful and responsive if you have any request, especially if you lose any important document during your stay.
As for the living condition, the apartments are oftentimes really close to the city center. The major downside is that the quality of the room are random. The major upside is that a maid cleans the apartment regularly.

Come to Qingdao, it's nice.
