The BEST Way to Learn Spanish!

I have been extraordinarily fortunate to have studied at the Academia LatinAmericana in Quito for 5 days in 2010, 10 days in 2011, and 10 days in 2017. On the second and third trips, I had my Intercultural Communication class with me (12 students in 2011, and 16 students in 2017), and this was truly a transformative experience for my students.

My professor, Vivi is exceptional--warm, caring, attentive, and incredibly adept at teaching to the level of her students. The small class size allows for lots of one-on-one interaction, and other activities such as viewing films, going to the market or cooking provide wonderful contexts for practice. The other professors are terrific as well, and my students all had great experiences.

I highly recommend staying with a host family and touring both cultural and natural sites while in Quito; the immersion experience is unrivaled, and the Academia staff provides constant logistical and social support. Do this for two weeks, and return changed!
