Review

My experience in Malta was amazing, but also sounds very different to the other Angloville programmes available. We had trips most days and less structured teaching/conversations than the example schedule on the website suggests. This had both pros and cons because we were able to explore Malta but meant less time interacting with the kids and so less language immersion for them.

The children themselves were wonderful and almost all of them eager to participate. I was able to build a really strong relationship with my mentees and see an improvement in their English over the week.

I would hope that any future programmes I attended were more structured and based around immersion for the children as I feel otherwise they're not benefiting as much as they could.

All in all it was a wonderful experience I definitely hope to repeat and would encourage others to do.

Would you recommend this program?
Yes, I would

Language co-ordinators (those in charge of the children and their wellbeing) were unorganised and didn't even read through all of the materials at time. Our own co-ordinator was wonderful but it was frustrating to see her have to work around the inadequacies of the Polish co-ordinators. It was a wonderful experience and I genuinely do wish to repeat it but I think there needs to be something done about the lack of information available to volunteers.
