Environment Education in Bali

As a first-time solo traveller, the organisational tips from IVHQ were really helpful in preparing to go. The local team in Bali were very kind and accommodating. It was great to meet volunteers from all over the world, working on different projects.
The volunteer house was well equipped and clean, although the beds were a little uncomfortable and it was difficult to avoid the smell of smoke in shared outdoor spaces (often seeping into bedrooms as well). The food was varied and healthy.
I was the only person on my project and there were very few materials to work with so I had free-rein to research and plan my lessons. I learnt a lot about waste management in Bali through this process and gained valuable classroom teaching experience.
Overall, the trip allowed me to become immersed in Balinese culture in just the two weeks I was out there.
I would recommend volunteering abroad to anyone who want to learn about a different culture and to meet like-minded people.
