Summer of a lifetime

Hi everybody! My name is Angelika and I did the Shanghai internship through Absolute Internship in the summer 2012. It was probably the best and most adventurous thing I have ever done in my life. I have found Absolute online, applied and got accepted. Then the summer came, and this amazing Chinese city - Shanghai, welcomed me for the next two months. On my first day I was a little bit scared and worried, however now I must say that it was just an anxiety. The whole working, social and travelling experience turned out to be a blast! I got placed in a small investment bank with the office just in the heart of Shanghai financial district, between the World Financial Center and Shanghai Stock Exchange. Due to the fact that it was a small, although extremely successful company, we had a chance to perform variety of tasks which would be hardly to experience in a big corporation. We were responsible for pretty much everything from spotting right investment opportunities, analyzing and suggesting the investment strategy, contacting CFOs, and preparing financial modelling for MBOs, LBOs and spin-offs. Moreover, I was fortunate enough and all my days I worked in the same office with my boss. His knowledge and banking experience benefited me a lot. I got to hear first hand stories about Wall Street and how the live of the banker really looks like. All in all, I would recommend Absolute Internship to everybody who is brave enough to step out of his/her comfort zone and go to China for the whole summer, to work hard, learn a lot, visit cool places and party like a celebrity!
