I have loved my experience living in Brighton and attending school at the University of Brighton. The costal city is so wonderful and lively but hardly ever crowded. Public transportation has been reliable and easy to understand. Academics at this university are much more relaxed than my home American university, no homework at all aside from weekly reading. Just 3 classes, each once a week, 3 essay final exams, and a 3 week easter break. This structure worked well for me and I feel I learned a lot without ever falling behind. I have been blown away by the faculty at the University of Brighton. I have always had ample support, patience, and understanding from professors, resident assistants, study abroad coordinators and everyone in between. I have also had great experiences with my peers. Everyone in my classes were eager to participate in discussions. I have also made strong connections with my fellow international students, even traveling around Europe with some of them.
While I did plenty of exploring on my own and with friends, I was also extremely grateful for the field trips that were coordinated by USAC and the University of Brighton. They were always carefully thought out, educational, and so fun. I was able to visit places I never would've thought to go on my own.
I love Brighton. I love being on the coast. I love being 2 hours away from London. I love the shopping, nightlife, restaurants, and parks. There is always something to do in Brighton, football games, the beach, the pier, bars, pubs, clubs, parks, concerts, comedy, aquariums, museums, restaurants, cafes, castles, double decker buses, and more and more and more.
