Amazing experience!

I really didn't know anything about Mongolia before I went on this expedition. It was a happy surprise to learn how interesting Mongolian culture is and how friendly and creative the people are.

This was really a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The countryside location of the research site is absolutely stunning. The work is really hands-on. We got to help collect the argali data - monitoring the animal's temperature, helping to put the radio collars on, then tracking them after they were released. It was amazing to be so close to such a massive, beautiful wild animal!

You get a real sense of how important the work is - and that you are really a part of it. Because of the work we did - and the Earthwatch teams before us - the Mongolian government designated the area a Natural Reserve - protecting the area through national policy! The researchers here are really making a difference. And, it is really fun!
