I completed my Divemaster with Project Laut in 2022 and it delivered exactly what I wanted: serious training, real conservation work, and world-class diving. The team runs a tight, professional program—coaching is direct, standards are high, and you’re in the water a lot. That combination made me a stronger, calmer diver.

The diving itself is phenomenal. I saw multiple molas during the season and learned how to plan safely around Penida’s currents and thermoclines. Briefings were detailed, skill circuits were structured, and I got meaningful feedback after every dive.

The conservation component is what sets Project Laut apart. This wasn’t “pose for a photo and call it science.” I worked on coral restoration (prepping and maintaining structures), basic reef monitoring, and turtle ID workflows. You see how data is collected, cleaned, and logged, and you understand why each task matters. It’s hands-on and it sticks.

Day-to-day, the schedule is busy but manageable: workshops, guiding practice, gear care, plus conservation blocks. Small groups mean you don’t get lost in the shuffle. Accommodation was simple and functional; the focus is on diving and learning. Staff support was consistent, and safety culture was clear—conditions calls were conservative when they needed to be.
