I wanted to join a project in a country with a completely different culture, but I also wanted a 'bridge'—something I could relate to. In my case, that was football. I set out to learn about a new way of life, not really knowing what to expect. But from the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with such warmth, it felt as though I’d known everyone for years. Little did I know, this was the start of the most beautiful three months of my life. The kindness and love I experienced were unlike anything I had ever known. I was struck by how people found joy in what they had, rather than focusing on what they lacked. Every day, I looked forward to seeing the students and teachers at the school and immersing myself in their traditions. Even when challenges arose, the school was always open to compromise, and our coordinators, Dom and Becky, were always there to help us find solutions. Beyond the project, I met wonderful new volunteers almost every week. Whether we were cooking together, exploring different parts of Ghana on weekends, or just having a game night, the bond was instant. My time in Ghana was unforgettable thanks to the incredible coordinating team, my fellow volunteers, the welcoming local community, and the stunning nature. I would recommend this project to anyone!
