Lombok turtle conservation

As a seventeen year old girl, I wanted to volunteer overseas in a place I could feel safe, supported and really dive into the local culture and community. This volunteer program let me do just that. Through the two weeks I volunteered in Lombok, Indonesia, I tried the most delicious foods, worked with turtles, laughed and made meaningful relations with so many people. This trip was not only eye-opening, but also the start of my travel journey. Some of my favourite memories include driving to the turtle conservation, singing local songs and stopping by local markets to pick up Pisang Goreng (fried banana) and fresh coconuts. The entire staff is friendly and make up some of my favourite memories. I also enjoyed the independence of being able to get around after the volunteer work is done, whether thats going out to bars, surfing lessons, massages or any of the many things that Lombok offers.
