I had a great experience on Therapy Abroad! I learned so much about myself, working with others in this context, and the field. It was such an adventure and pushed everyone out of their comfort zone in both covert and overt ways and allowed us all to grow. Choosing a major or career path is daunting because you never have that concrete proof that it’s what you want until you try it, and this is that great opportunity. The most important part of the trip for me was learning about life in Belize and seeing it firsthand. It’s strange to be a tourist in an impoverished country, but doing something useful rather than vacationing makes it much more rewarding and more authentic.

Some of the scheduling should be reviewed to ensure that time is maximized. For example, art box easily could have been a lunch or bathroom stop on the way back from jaguar paw, allowing us to catch an earlier ferry to caye caulker to get two full days there and not be rushed to get to the ferry and miss it as we did. And while I don’t know all of the logistics of the reservations and pre-ordering, it would be great if restaurants were all chosen before arrival and cross referenced with D’Lya so that there we didn’t eat at multiple restaurants repetitively. Finally, there were a lot of issues with dietary restrictions being met and in that vein, for a small group like ours, it might be beneficial to send the whole menu with a budget rather than give very limited options that often aren’t satisfactory.
