Review

The trip as a whole is full of valuable experiences and for me was a really nice ice breaker into travelling which is what I wanted when booking it. The itinerary is full of different experiences and personally even the ones I didn’t enjoy as much still were an interesting experience and equally as valuable. Throughout my time I felt very safe. The itinerary itself is pretty full on and personally I really appreciated any down time we got. I feel like away from the treks there was a lot more walking than I anticipated which is why I appreciated the down time. Additionally I personally would have appreciated a bit more independence as we were not allowed to do stuff on our own. I totally get that from a safety perspective it’s better to be in small groups or couples when doing stuff but I found to a certain extent it took away slightly from my enjoyment of certain places and experiences because I knew that other people might not want to necessarily do or look at what I wanted to. Another thing to bare in mind is that the food, while not bad, was very repetitive and largely consisted of the same things so lots of eggs for breakfast, meals consisted of a lot of rice chicken and plantain. That being said there is the opportunity to try new different foods that I would recommend, and I think this whole trip should be approached with an open mind. This is not to take anything away from the whole experience as it was really fun and I would recommend this to anyone who hasn’t done any travelling before, as it is a good first step and I will definitely look to go travelling again.
