About Program
Even though Spanish is Costa Rica's main language, English has become a second language for a large proportion of the population, as it allows individuals and communities to access better business opportunities and to participate in the tourism industry meaningfully. However, there are still many communities that can't afford language classes that could help them improve their lives. This is where you can step in and make a difference!
As a volunteer ESL teacher, you'd be based in San Jose for a 4-week cultural immersion program which would allow you to not only learn Spanish whilst teaching English to people in need, but to explore the diverse aspects Costa Rica has to offer through cultural activities, educational field trips, and community projects. This program is excellent for participants who wish for a more, well-rounded and hands-on approach in understanding the Costa Rican culture, and the Spanish language in turn.
