About Program

In education, less can sometimes be more. In the case of the Pacific Northwest Quarter, fewer sections translate to fewer transitions and more time in the field. That's more time to practice and master your skills. More time to nail your leadership. And more time for your team to gel as you get all of the basics down in preparation for the student expedition that will be the capstone of your NOLS spring quarter.

You'll begin with one month of sea kayaking in the wild marine ecosystem of British Columbia. Next: two days certifying in Wilderness First Aid. Then you'll follow that with one month of glacier mountaineering in the rugged North Cascades. Your multi-day student expedition will bring all of your learning together as your group hikes and camps in North Cascades National Park.

Replace your spring quarter in a classroom by earning a semester worth of college credits in the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest for less than most college's tuition.
