About Program

Slip into tide pools. Snorkel thriving reefs. Lose yourself in the beauty of bioluminescence. Your introduction to real-world marine biology begins here.

The answers to the big questions: How do fish sleep? What is coral? Where does sand come from? And the even bigger questions: What is my place on Earth? What can I do to affect change and make things better? You can find them here as you snorkel into the mysteries of the underworld on the Bahamian island of San Salvador. It’s an aspiring marine biologists’ paradise. Reefs, freshwater blue holes, tide pools and mangrove channels filled with shrimp, jellyfish and coral that are just waiting to be explored – by you. Best Summer of my Life

Studying Marine Biology in the very small island of San Salvador Bahamas was definitely one of the most unforgettable experiences. This was my first time being away for 3 weeks, i was a little nervous at first but as soon as i met the instructors i knew i was gonna have so much fun. I made friends with the most amazing people. It's true what they say, by the end you really do become a huge "broadreach family."The diving was an incredible experience and the instructors are always patient with you, allowing you to become a better diver. The program has a bit of academic work, however when your lessons are for example learning about sharks anatomy on the beach it doesn't feel like school work at all. You learn about one thing in the classroom and get the chance to see it up close the next day during your dives. This trip is an amazing opportunity and anyone given the chance to go should not turn it down!

Questions & Answers

For the trip I would say that you spend maybe 3 hours a day on studies. You have a lecture each day and the rest is you writing up lecture summaries which can be time consuming depending on how in depth the lecture was. You have a midterm and a final exam but everyone studies together and you do a review in class so you feel well prepared. I don’t remember ever feeling stressed for the tests
