My experience in Martinique with EnRoute is one I will always cherish!

I had so much fun learning about the culture and meeting new people who were excited to show me their world. I felt like I was getting a real picture of what life is like there by meeting locals and going all around the island. When we visited museums, I learned so much history that I otherwise never would have known. Julie and Elodie were so incredible and clearly knew a lot about the culture and were very familiar with the island, so I felt like I was getting a genuine experience. I learned a lot about myself by being in a new environment with people I at the beginning did not know very well, and I felt like I grew a lot. My trip was the perfect mix of educational and fun, would definitely recommend!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I tried accras (deep-fried fritters) for the first time, and they were delicious!
Pros
  • Learning about a new culture
  • Practicing and improving your French
  • Meeting new people (those in the group you travel with and locals)

trip to Martinique

Last spring, I went on a school exchange trip to Martinique with the program. Honestly, at first I was a bit nervous to go because it was my first time there and I was doing many things that I had never done before. However, because of the incredible people there (locals and the trip leaders) I can say that I had one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I learned so much about the culture and history of Martinique and improved my French language skills a lot. I stayed in a beautiful house right next to the beach, the weather was perfect, and there were so many fun activities. All of the local students I met were so kind and enthusiastic to have me there, some of them I still am friends with today. If I could go back to visit I would do so instantly, and I am so thankful for all of the work from the organizers and guides of the trip because it was really an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.

Martinique

Overall going to Martinique was not only a fun and memorable experience but it was also a very educational trip. Not only did my french skills improve significantly during the trip I learned about the islands history and France's colonial past. I met many different people during the trip who were happy to show me their culture and lifestyle. My host family was also incredible and made sure I always felt safe and comfortable during the whole process. All in all the trip was amazing, the people helping the trip were amazing and the whole team organizing it made it happen.
