About Program

We offer quality tropical fieldwork experience for undergrads and new graduates, in the area of conservation. Interns can participate in marine turtle, mixed taxa (including bird monitoring, large mammal monitoring, caiman census, and reptile and amphibian mark and recapture surveys), sustainability or community conservation internships. We can provide logistical support and on-site supervision for students who need to conduct their own research. Our internships are hard work in challenging conditions, and great preparation for post-graduate employment.

The minimum internship period is 6 weeks, and Community and sustainability interns are required to speak Spanish with reasonable fluency. All interns have a chance to develop leadership and teaching skills. We work a typical 6-day Costa Rican week, and surveys are unpredictable in length (particularly during our turtle nesting season). A great level of physical fitness is important, as is flexibility, teamwork and a sense of humor.
