Why did you decide to volunteer with IVHQ in Nepal?
Melaina: I volunteered with IVHQ in Nepal because it seemed to be the best value for the price. They were very thorough in helping me, their site was easy to navigate, and they seemed well established. I chose Nepal particularly because of the price, the location (Himalayas!) and wildlife.
Describe your day to day activities as a volunteer.
Melaina: As an orphanage volunteer, I would walk there in the mornings and help the children get ready for school, and walk them there. When school was out in the afternoons, we would walk them home. We would help them with homework and then play games with them until dinner.
How has this experience impacted your future?
Melaina: The experience has not only changed my future as far as volunteer experience for jobs/school, it changed my entire outlook on my life and future. It opened my eyes to the truth of a culture very much unlike my own, and made my thirst to travel even greater.
